The annual general meeting for the Society will be held on Saturday April 13th at the Christian Community Church, 901 Rutherford Rd., Vaughan, Ontario, from 9:00 am – 4:30 pm. https://www.google.com/url?sa=D&oi=plus&q=https://maps.google.ca/maps?ie%3DUTF8%26cid%3D4550290893797133274%26q%3DChristian%2BCommunity%2BThe%26iwloc%3DA%26gl%3DCA%26hl%3Den

This year we will stray slightly from our usual pattern of having the business meeting in the morning with presentations on some aspect of biodynamics in the afternoon. Instead we will dedicate the entire day on the Society itself. In the morning will have the familiar financial and committee reports and Q&A, but in the afternoon will follow with a structured program that will include members’ participation focussed on capacity building of our Society. The afternoon will encompass a development of our Society biography facilitated by Dorothy LeBaron and Lesley Diaz, and a collaborative exploration using the World Café method, as well as a plenary for bringing all of the days’ pieces together.

As an annual meeting, it will formally remain open for the duration of the day so that anything that may develop out of it can still be included as formal motions and voted decisions, and will only adjourn with the 4:30 pm ending. Late in the morning we will also hear the Board Nomination committee report and either acclaim or elect the Board members for the coming year – a new process for us coming out of the bylaw changes adopted last year (see Board Members Nomination below).

Doors open at 9:00 am; coffee & refreshments, book sales, BD preparations and greeting from 9:00 – 9:30; business meeting will begin promptly at 9:45. Lunch (salad, soup, sandwiches/wraps) will be catered by Mary Hanna (cost is $15 per person). We will have a potluck dessert so please bring something you’d like to share with others. Please also bring your own dish, bowl, mug, and cutlery for lunch, and bring containers for BD preparations if you plan on taking any with you.

Mary is quite happy to include any donations of members’ own farm or garden food products in the lunch. If you’d like to do this, please contact Mary directly at 647-860-5234 to coordinate it.

If you plan on attending, please RSVP to Laurie McGregor by Monday, April 8th at the latest so that we can properly organize catering and the day’s activities.

As mentioned in the last newsletter, Cory Eichman will be teaching two intermediate/advanced Biodynamic courses beginning this fall at his farm in Durham:

The Individuality of the Farm course will work through the 7 life process in the development of the farm organism. This course will be offered weekly on Thursdays, starting September 13th thru November 1st. But, depending on interest, it may ALSO be offered monthly on Sundays as well starting on Sunday September 30th (for those who might be better able to attend on weekends).

Please mark your calendars – the Society’s 2012 Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday, March 31stat the Durham Town Hall, 185 George St. W., Durham, Ontario, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. We will hold our business meeting in the morning. The afternoon will include sharing what we know about biodynamics, a presentation on “New Adult Learning” by Arlene Thorne, and then some participatory exploration of how we may use it in broadening knowledge of biodynamics.

Lunch and snacks will be catered by Megan Cookson, the chef at Chicory Common in Durham. If you`ve eaten at Chicory Common you`ll know how good Megan`s cooking is! She is happy to use ingredients donated by Society members in her lunch preparation (which will also help to offset the catering costs). If you have any of the following that you would like to donate for the lunch, please contact Heather Thoma (705-368-0460 or membership@biodynamics.on.ca) as early as you can (and March 15th at the latest):

onions (cooking) – 15 lbs

garlic bulbs – 15-20

potatoes – 16 lbs

cabbages – 3 heads (large)

celery – 2 heads

summer sausage – 1 log

We will have the traditional potluck dessert as well.
